Relay Server - Offline Compatibility SMP 3.0

$

Dear All,

As per the previous documentation that Relay Server was not supported offlicially for SMP SP05 PL2 for Offline Capability for Native SDK.

But with the latest release we saw that it says Relay Server is supported with SMP 3.0.

Relay Server Characteristics - Landscape Planning and Design - SAP Library

I have upgraded my server and the SDK to the latest available patch.

But i am facing problem to work with Offline Store on Native Android SDK with Relay Server. It always gives an error of Unknown network exception which we try to open the Store. We have this thing working with Apache Reverse Proxy. As the Offline Store requires some properties to be set for initializing like Host and Port which works in case of Apache Reverse Proxy/ Direct communication but Relay Server bridges the traffic through Farm Id and RSOE.

There is one parameter call as url_stream i tried to set and get it working but it doesnt

Can anyone suggest if this works with Relay Server.

Histrorical stock data cannot retrieved correctly from MARD/MARDH

Dear MM gurus.

I'd like to retrieve pas stock data from MARD/MARDH table,

but I cannot retrieve number correctly.

For example, if the current period is "May", and

- Feb: GR 100 qty

- Mar/Apr: No goods movement

- May: GR 1 qty, GI 1 qty

(= So, qty in May is 100 qty)

In this case, when I try to retrieve data of Mar, there is no data in MARD/MARDH.

I can retrieve only

- 0 (Jan)

- 100(Apr)

But, in fact, qty in Mar should be 100.

Is there any good way like using Function Module?

SAP HANA One on AWS – Frequently Asked Questions

$
0
0

General

1.   What is SAP HANA One?

SAP HANA One is a single HANA instance hosted on Amazon Web Services. Customers and Partners can use SAP HANA One to provision a secured instance of SAP HANA database. This instance can be used to build and deploy on-demand applications that leverage SAP HANA's in-memory computing capabilities. The Applications can be consumed for productive use by end users.

2.  What is SAP HANA One Portal?

SAP HANA One Portal is an internal component of SAP HANA One Product and it

is a combination of HANA One instance and web based management console to manage and perform administrative tasks on a single or set of HANA instances. It is used for administrating the other HANA instances and itself has HANA running on it. SAP HANA One Portal is available for the customers with the following deployment options.

  • Management Console and HANA can reside in a single AWS instance.
  • Management Console and HANA can reside in two different AWS instances.

3.  Is the current version of SPS9 Multi-tenant ?

As of now we only support single-tenant SPS9 HANA instance.

4.  What are the other features of SAP HANA One?

SAP HANA One provides the following features.

SAP HANA One on cc2.8xlarge instance is offered at $0.99 per hour. AWS infrastructure costs are additional.

Your total cost of using SAP HANA One will vary on your workload, but let us look at typical examples of always-on SAP HANA One for 30 days where Portal and HANA reside in the same AWS instance.

Sample Pricing Calculation for launching Cc2.8xlarge instances from EC2:

Cost of EC2 instance, storage, and data-transfer: $1701.89 per month

For detailed calculation of service subtotals, one can refer to the following link.

2. How can I control cost?

You are responsible for operating your AWS account and paying for the hosting costs. A great way to minimize costs is to stop your instance when you are not using it. Starting your instance just takes a few minutes, so you can fire it up when you need it. To stop your instance, go to AWS EC2 console, right click the instance and choose "Stop" from the context menu. To start it again, choose "Start" from the same context menu.

Please note that even after stopping the EC2 instance, there are a few items that can still incur costs, such as EBS volumes. If you wish to stop using your HANA One instance, and do not want to pay related monthly bills, you will need to terminate your instance.

To terminate your instance, choose "Terminate" from your context menu. Once the instance is terminated, by default, only the root volume is deleted; other EBS volumes attached to the instance are not deleted automatically. If you wish to terminate your instance and no longer need your data, you may delete detached EBS volumes using AWS EC2 Console or AWS APIs to avoid storage charges for unused EBS volumes.

AWS also provides tools to monitor your usage, so there are no surprises when you get your monthly bill - from your "My Account / Console" menu on the top right corner of the screen onhttp://aws.amazon.com, choose "Account Activity" and you will see your activity for the current month.

3. How can I set billing alerts?

Billing alerts enable you to monitor your AWS usage charges and recurring fees automatically, making it easier to track and manage your spending on AWS. You can set up billing alerts to receive e-mail notifications when your charges reach a specified threshold. First 10 alerts are free. Please check AWS website for the latest services.

Please visit https://portal.aws.amazon.com/gp/aws/developer/account/index.html?ie=UTF8&action=billing-alerts&amp to setup billing alerts.

Getting Started and Deployment Considerations

1. What is the maximum database size for SAP HANA One?

There are few flavors of compute optimized instance available from SPS7 onwards -

    • cc2.8xlarge (Previous generation) 60.5 GB memory.
    • c3.8xlarge (Current generation) 60 GB memory. This type provides 32 performing processors.
    • c4.8xlarge  (Current generation) 60 GB memory. This type provides 36 performing processors

However, for optimal performance, we do not recommend exceeding the size of the database beyond the 30 GB in memory.

2. What do I do if I outgrow the maximum database size?

Consider using SAP HANA on-premise for database requirements that exceeds AWS’s current offering.

3. Can I use AWS clustering functionality?

This is not currently supported for SAP HANA One.

4. How do I load data to my SAP HANA One instance?

You can load data to your SAP HANA One instance by importing CSV files.

5. What is the performance on SAP HANA One as compared to SAP HANA on-premise?

For a similar number and type of CPU cores, memory and I/O configuration, SAP HANA One is comparable to SAP HANA on-premise. Your actual performance will vary based on the nature of workload.

6. If SAP or another source system is connecting from onsite to SAP HANA One, what is the network bandwidth?

Network bandwidth in this case is dependent on the bandwidth available at the onsite location.

7. What happens if there’s a hardware failure? Who is responsible, SAP or Amazon? What should a customer do?

If your SAP HANA One instance fails, you can start up again using the AWS Console or through an API call. All storage volumes associated with your instance are automatically attached to your new instance.

Security & Backup

1. How do I recover lost data?

SAP HANA One is configured to back up data and log to a separate 200 GB EBS volume from which data can then be recovered. Log backup is performed periodically as needed. We recommend performing data backup periodically. Additionally, backup should be done before any system upgrade to protect data and HANA artifacts.

2. What happens to my data when I shut down the SAP HANA One instance?

The SAP HANA One instances are backed up by persistent data stores and volumes and will remain attached until the user terminates the instance. Once the instance is terminated, by default, only the root volume is deleted. The data, log, and backup volumes are not deleted automatically. Those volumes can be attached to other instances if required. If the instance is not needed anymore, make sure to delete all the EBS volumes to avoid storage charges for unused EBS volumes.

3. How secure is the Amazon EC2 environment to run my SAP HANA Database?

AWS provides industry-standard security, and instances can be configured according to your specific needs. Please refer to AWS security features at http://http://aws.amazon.com/securityaws.amazon.com/security.  More advanced features like Virtual Private Cloud can provide more fine-grained control over security.

4. Can a SAP HANA One backup be restored into an on-premise instance of SAP HANA?

Yes, as long as SAP HANA One and SAP HANA on-premise licenses are valid, and the SAP HANA versions match, backup data can be transferred. Please follow your license agreements carefully before you transfer any data between SAP HANA One and SAP HANA on-premise.

5. Do I need to install Secure Backup media and administrative servers in order to do Cloud backup?

Special backup media is not required. The SAP HANA One instances are pre-configured with 200GB of

EBS volumes for data backups. We also provide option to backup on S3 as well. For added data security, snapshots of these volumes can be created on AWS.

6. If I would like to have additional backup is this possible other than the local EBS Volume?

Yes, In our new release we now have the option to backup in a S3 bucket. Simply select this option when taking a backup from the respective Console page of the HANA instance.

Creating extensions or page customizing per document type in CLM

Hello,

We are currently implementing a standalone CLM 2.0 install and I'm wondering if it is possible to do the following:

Create extensions and or page customizations per master agreement type.  For instance, we have created our own master agreement type and we want to add an extension field that will appear only on this type.  So far, I can only figure out how to extend the Standard Master Agreement which aplies to all types.

Any help would be appreicated.

Can sender/reciever ID configuration in SXMB_ADM be used as sub-parameter for IDOC--> XML conversion?

$

Hi All,

I know there is way where we can use Sender/Reciver ID in SXMB_ADM as sub-parameter for Runtime-->IS_URL.

But can we use Sender/Receiver ID as sub-parameter for IDOC-->XML_CONVERSION in Integration Configuration's Specific Configuration?

Actually my requirement is to set the configuration  IDOC-->XML_CONVERSION as 1(current value) - 2(Default Value).

But I want this setting to run only for my interface and should not impact any other existing interface.

And when I am trying to use Sender/Receiver ID as sub parameter for IDOC_CONVERSION, no sub-parameter exist for this parameter.

Please let me know :

1) can I use Sender/Receiver ID as sub parameter for IDOC_CONVERSION??

2) would there be any major impact for using configuration  IDOC-->XML_CONVERSION as 1(current value) - 2(Default Value) directly. Is there any way existing IDOC interfaces will be impacted.

Please suggest.

Sachi

dynamicSubstring - simplifying your substring logic

$

0

Introduction

A common mapping requirement that crops up every now and then is the requirement to extract a portion of data from a source field. This can be easily achieved with the standard function substring from the Text category. However, the substring function can only be configured with static start position and character count parameter values. If the input to the function is a dynamic content of variable length, it is possible to encounter the familiar "java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range" exception when the input is shorter than expected.

Below are some common approaches to handle such scenarios:

  • Create a custom substring UDF based on java.lang.String's substring method with arguments as input instead of parameters.
  • Create a mapping logic to determine length of input and reconstruct it prior to input of substring function.

In this blog, I will share an alternative approach using a simple UDF named dynamicSubstring. The usage and configuration is similar to the standard substring function, however it will dynamically calculate the length of the input value so that the substring operation does not trigger the out of range exception.

Source code

The UDF is a Single Values execution type UDF, having 1 String input argument and 2 configurable parameters.

@LibraryMethod(title="dynamicSubstring", description="Get substring of input", category="FL_TextPool", type=ExecutionType.SINGLE_VALUE)
public String dynamicSubstring (   @Argument(title="Input String")  String input,   @Parameter(title="Start index")  int start,   @Parameter(title="Length of output")  int length,   Container container)  throws StreamTransformationException{  // ----------------------------------------------------------  // Extracts the substring of an input String     // ----------------------------------------------------------  // input - input string  // start - position index for start of string  // length - length of substring  // ----------------------------------------------------------  int startPos = start;  int endPos = start + length - 1;  String output = "";  if ( startPos < 0 ) {   // (1) Start position is before start of input, return empty string   output = "";  } else if ( startPos >= 0 && startPos < input.length() ) {   if ( endPos < input.length() ) {    // (2) Start & end positions are before end of input, return the partial substring    output = input.substring( startPos, endPos + 1 );   } else if ( endPos >= input.length() ) {    // (3) Start position is before start of input but end position is after end of input, return from start till end of input    output = input.substring( startPos, input.length() );   }  } else if ( startPos >= input.length() ) {   // (4) Start position is after end of input, return empty string   output = "";  }  return output;
}

Testing Results

Scenario 1

Start position and end position is less than length of input. This scenario can be achieved by standard function without any exception.

test1.png

Scenario 2

The input value is now shorter that scenario 1 such that start position is less than input length, but the end position is more than input length. For standard function, this will cause an exception. However, for dynamicSubstring, it will just extract from the start position until the end of the input.

test2a.png

Scenario 3

Finally, the input value has shortened significantly such that the start position is more than the input length. Again this will cause an exception with the standard function. However, for dynamicSubstring, it will just return an empty string.

test3.png

Conclusion

With the usage of dynamicSubstring, we can now simplify mapping logic that involve substring operations on content that is variable in length.

APD Execution in SAP BI 7.0

Hi Experts,

We have recreated the APD from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 manually .

The source of the APD is Query & target is DSO. In BW 3.5 , the APD is executing fine. Whereas in BI 7.0, the APD is not executing and leading to timeout error.

We scheduled the APD in BGD process and the process is going on ON HOLD and after an hour the execution is failing.

We created variant with few plant & year selections which has less data for the query, even then the APD is not executing.

Further to just check the APD execution, i used Flat file as the target and executed in foreground, but same error.

Can anyone tell me what all the system requirements needed for successful execution of APD's and the criteria's to be checked at the system level?

Hi Expert,

Client requirement is very basic but i am facing a lot of challenge to meet the requirement.

Client need the following report-

PR Number-PR Item Number-PR Item Value-PO Number-PO Item Number-PO Value

PR Number and PO Number will be the input parameter.

I got PR Number/Item Number/PO Number PO Item number from EKET, but values are not there.

In EBAN, it is showing only latest PO w.r.t PR.
